In Saving Private Ryan the celebrated sniper Private Jackson prays “O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me” seconds before he blows a hole in a guy about a mile away. In Pulp Fiction Jules recited an editorialized Ezekiel passage (”and I will strike you down with furious vengeance..”) before he got his blast on. Now today it is being reported that sights on U.S. military weapons have been inscribed with Biblical inscriptions such as the one above (John 8:12). Huh?
Now I don’t need to ask you educated people of the 2000’s this, but I will anyway: who came up with the bizarre idea to sneak Biblical inscriptions into the serial numbers of gun sights?
The sights are made by a company called Trijicon according to ABC NEWS. Their slogan is “Brilliant aiming solutions.” Hee. Why not “Enlightened aiming solutions”? Or maybe “Holy aiming solutions”?
Their website says their mission is “dedicated to promoting Trijicon product sales, training, education, and related services to all Military, Federal Law Enforcement, and US Government Agencies..” Yeah, and sharing Biblical inscriptions on weapons used for murder.
Or. Or.. maybe the inscriptions are some form of subliminal evangelization. Remember the popcorn and Coke frames in the movie theatres back in the day? “Gee, I sure am craving a popcorn and Coke right about now, hon’—although I’m not sure why. “ Maybe after looking through the sights enough times the soldier wakes up one morning and thinks, “Hey, I’m going to read the Bible.. John 8:12.” I’m kidding of course.
What now? Remove all the sights? Bury them in a mass grave? Who pays for that? Weird world we live in, huh?
Either way, Bible inscriptions on guns aint Jesus fault.

“Either way, Bible inscriptions on guns aint Jesus fault.”
Of course not. It’s not Santa, The Tooth Fairie, Peter Pan, or Supermans fault either. Imaginary critters are not to blame, the people who believe in them are to blame.
If they wanted to use bible quotes anyway they should have used Ezekiel 25:17
